Taipei Main Station Introduction
Taipei Main Station (referred to as Taipei Station for Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taipei Metro) is located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is an underground railway station that integrates the Taiwan Railway Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Taipei Metro. It is the interchange station for the Taipei Metro's Bannan Line and Tamsui-Xinyi Line. Not only is it the primary transportation hub in northern Taiwan, but it is also the largest railway station in Taiwan in terms of architectural scale and passenger volume, with over 500,000 passengers transferring daily, ranking 25th in the world for total usage. Taipei Main Station was established on July 5, 1891, and after several relocations and renovations, the current station building was inaugurated on September 2, 1989. The headquarters of the Taiwan Railway Administration is also located here, and with the entry of the metro and high-speed rail, it has formed an extensive underground shopping area. Surrounding the station is a commercial district bustling with offices and tutoring centers. When connected with the Taipei Transfer Station, Taipei Metro's Beimen Station, Taoyuan Airport MRT Taipei Station, Huashan Creative Park, and other facilities in the "Taipei Main Station Specific Area," the total area reaches 46.31 hectares. Additionally, Taipei Main Station is commonly referred to as "Taipei Railway Station," while in Taiwanese Hokkien it is called "Taipei Huochezhan" or "Taipei Chezi," and younger generations often simply refer to it as "Beichu."
