Taipei Main Station Introduction
Taipei Main Station (referred to as Taipei Station in Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taipei Metro) is located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is an underground railway station that integrates the Taiwan Railways Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Taipei Metro. It serves as a junction for the Taipei Metro's Bannan Line and Tamsui-Xinyi Line, making it not only the primary transportation hub in Northern Taiwan but also the largest railway station in Taiwan in terms of building scale and passenger volume. It handles over 500,000 transferring passengers daily, ranking 25th in the world for total passenger usage. Taipei Main Station was established on July 5, 1891, and after several relocations and renovations, the current station structure was inaugurated on September 2, 1989. The headquarters of the Taiwan Railways Administration is also located here. With the addition of the Metro and High-Speed Rail services, it has developed into a vast underground shopping area. Surrounding the station is the station front business district, which is particularly known for its concentration of offices and tutoring centers. When connected with the Taipei Transfer Station, MRT North Main Station, Airport MRT Taipei Station, Huashan Creative Park, and other related facilities within the "Taipei Main Station Specific Area," the total area can reach 46.31 hectares. Taipei Main Station is often referred to as "Taipei Train Station," while in Taiwanese Hokkien, it is called "Taipei Huoche Toud" or "Taipei Che Toud." Younger people commonly abbreviate it to "Beichē."
