Taipei Railway Station Introduction
Taipei Main Station (known as Taipei Station for Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taipei Metro) is located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is an underground transport hub where the Taiwan Railway Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Taipei Metro operate together. The station serves as a transfer point for the Taipei Metro's Bannan Line and Tamsui-Xinyi Line, making it not only the primary transportation hub in northern Taiwan but also the largest railway station in Taiwan in terms of architectural scale and traffic volume, with over 500,000 passenger transfers daily, ranking 25th globally in total passenger usage. Taipei Main Station was established on July 5, 1891, and after several relocations and renovations, the current station building was opened on September 2, 1989. The headquarters of the Taiwan Railway Administration is also located here, and with the integration of the metro and high-speed rail, it has formed a vast underground shopping area. Surrounding the station is the bustling business district, which is home to various office buildings and tutoring centers. When including related facilities such as Taipei Bus Station, Taipei Metro's Beimen Station, Taoyuan Airport MRT Taipei Station, and Huashan 1914 Creative Park, the area known as the "Taipei Main Station Specific Zone" covers an area of 46.31 hectares. Additionally, Taipei Main Station is often referred to as "Taipei Railway Station," and in Taiwanese, it is called "Taipei Huochetou" or "Taipei CheTou," while the younger generation often abbreviates it to "Beiche."
