Taipei Railway Station Introduction
Taipei Station (known as Taipei Station for Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taipei Metro) is located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is a underground railway station that serves the Taiwan Railways Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Taipei Metro, and it is the interchange station for the Taipei Metro's Bannan Line and Tamsui-Xinyi Line. Not only is it the primary transportation hub in northern Taiwan, but it is also the largest railway station in Taiwan in terms of architectural scale and passenger volume, with over 500,000 passenger transfers daily, ranking 25th in total passenger usage worldwide. Taipei Station was established on July 5, 1891, and after several relocations and renovations, the current station building was opened on September 2, 1989. The headquarters of the Taiwan Railways Administration is also located here. With the addition of the metro and high-speed rail services, an extensive underground shopping area has developed. Surrounding the station is the Station Front Business District, which is concentrated with offices and tutoring centers. If connected to facilities such as the Taipei Transfer Station, MRT Beimen Station, Taoyuan Airport MRT Taipei Station, and Huashan Creative Park, the area can reach up to approximately 46.31 hectares. Taipei Station is often referred to as "Taipei Railway Station," while in Taiwanese Hokkien, it is called "Taipei Hoat-chhia-thâu" or "Taipei Chhia-thâu," and younger crowds often shorten it to "Beichē."
