Shigupang Observation Bridge Introduction
Due to the 921 earthquake, Fengshan faced inconvenience in transportation. To connect the village with tourism roads, more than NT$170 million was invested, and the project was finally completed in 2007. Subsequently, landscape facilities and surrounding greening projects were gradually completed, along with the planning of themed tourist attractions. The bridge is designed as a single-span, cable-stayed steel arch bridge, measuring 140 meters in length with no middle piers. Its abutments on both sides are based on a box foundation, with central cables separating two lanes of traffic and a pedestrian walkway. The approach roads on both ends extend 280 meters, with a clear width of 7.5 meters, making it the longest span bridge in Chiayi County. This bridge connects to the nearby Debris Flow Park, with its changing night lights spanning the valley, illuminating the serene gorge and attracting attention. Fengshan, the highest flatland rural area in Taiwan, boasts breathtaking views of mountains, running water, and giant rocks. The opening of the Shigupan Tourist Bridge not only facilitates transport but also allows more people to experience the rich natural beauty of this area and appreciate its profound cultural essence.
