Shigupen Tourist Bridge Introduction
Due to the 921 earthquake, traffic in Fengshan became inconvenient. To connect it with the tourism road outside the village, an investment of over 170 million NTD was made, and it was finally completed in 2007. Subsequently, bridge landscape facilities and surrounding green beautification projects were gradually completed, planning themed tourist attractions. The bridge is designed as a single-span basket-style steel arch bridge, measuring 140 meters in length, with no mid-span supports. The bridge's abutments use box foundation, and the central suspended cables separate one lane in each direction and a pedestrian walkway. The approach roads at both ends stretch 280 meters with a net width of 7.5 meters, making it the longest span bridge in Chiayi County, connecting to the nearby debris flow park. The bridge features dynamic lighting that transforms at night, crossing the valley and illuminating the quiet gorge, creating a stunning visual impact. Fengshan, the highest flatland village in Taiwan, is surrounded by magnificent mountains, flowing water, and giant boulders. After the opening of the Shigupan Tourist Bridge, it not only improved transportation but also allowed more people to immerse themselves in this rich natural beauty and appreciate the profound local culture.
