Beiguan Tidal Park Introduction

One of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lanyang, the Secret Cove of Rocky Ocean Views features spectacular rocky landscapes, breathtaking sea and sky harmonies, panoramic views of Guishan Island, and trains racing through the area. If you want to enjoy all these beautiful sights at once, come to Beiguan Tide Park! Located in the small town of Toucheng, on the northeastern coast, this seaside park boasts rich and magnificent mountain and ocean views, making it one of the hidden gems along the Beibin Highway! The park is filled with rocky formations that showcase geological features shaped over millions of years, including Monolithic Mountain, Tofu Rock, and Small Cape. Between the massive rocks and mountains are stairways, walking paths, and pavilions for sea viewing. The paths meander according to the terrain, guiding visitors through the narrow skies between the twin rocks. In the tranquil Tide Park, sunlight filters through the tree-lined paths, creating a gentle and comfortable atmosphere. While listening to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks, visitors can appreciate the unique coastal scenery among the rugged rocks, providing a rich experience. Walking up to the sea-view pavilion, one can enjoy a clear view of the Lanyang Plain, the beautiful Guishan Island, and the offshore scenery of Waiao. Close up, the waves crash against the shore with varied moods and majestic views. The "Beiguan Tide" in the Eight Scenic Spots of Lanyang is not just a name; it has long been described in historical poetry as "Lancheng's key at the mountain waist, with snow waves soaring in roar," capturing the grandeur of the tumultuous tides. Beiguan originally served as a checkpoint during the Qing Dynasty, as its terrain made it the best pass to prevent bandits from entering Yilan. Two ancient cannons, said to have been cast during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, stand in the park facing the sea, adding an air of antiquity to Beiguan. This location is also a must-visit for train enthusiasts and photographers. From the top of the path, one can watch trains whiz between the mountains and the sea, providing great satisfaction! The stunning ocean views are photogenic from any angle, and for photographers, it's especially recommended to capture the moments during high tide or sunrise, with the jagged rocks standing tall along the coast and roaring waves crashing, making it the best spot for capturing magnificent landscapes.
