Beiguan Tidal Park Introduction

One of the Eight Sights of Lanyang, the North Guān Tidal Park offers a secret paradise with spectacular rocky coastlines, breathtaking views of the ocean and sky, panoramic views of Guishan Island, and passing trains. If you want to enjoy all these beautiful sights, this is the place to visit! Located in the town of Toucheng, at the northeast coast, this seaside park boasts rich and magnificent mountain and sea scenery, becoming one of the hidden attractions along the North Coast Highway! The park is dotted with fascinating rock formations, where you can see geological features such as the mono-cliff, tofu stone, and small sea cape formed after millions of years of erosion. Between the giant rocks and mountain slopes, there are staircases, trails, and sea-view pavilions. The winding paths guide visitors through a narrow sky passage flanked by cliffs. Inside the tranquil tidal park, the sunlight filters through the tree-lined passages, creating a gentle and comfortable atmosphere. While listening to the crashing waves against the rocks, you can explore the unique coastal wonders amidst the rugged rocks, which offers a delightful experience. Walking up to the sea-view pavilion allows for a clear view of the Lanyang Plain, the beauty of Guishan Island, and the scenic ocean vista. Up close, you can watch the waves crashing against the shore in ever-changing weather, showcasing the breathtaking scenery. The "North Guān Tidal" among the Eight Sights of Lanyang is rightly named, echoing the classic saying, "The key to Lancheng locks the mountain waist, the snow waves soar and echo the furious tide," which describes the vigorous and magnificent tidal scenery. Originally a guard post during the Qing Dynasty, North Guān was strategically established here to prevent robbers from entering Yilan. Two century-old cannons stand in the park, believed to be relics forged during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, which add an ancient charm to North Guān as they stand facing the sea, weathered by time. This place is also a must-visit for railway and photography enthusiasts. Watching trains race between the mountains and the sea from the top of the trail is immensely satisfying! The unbeatable ocean views are photogenic at every angle, especially recommended during high tide or sunrise. The towering rocky coast and crashing waves make it the best spot for capturing majestic landscapes.
