Wushi Harbor Introduction
If you love surfing and challenging yourself, enjoy the exhilaration of speeding across the sea, or want to feast on fresh seafood, then a trip to Wushi Harbor is a must! The name "Wushi" comes from the large black rocks found in the harbor. This fishing port, located in Toucheng township, not only serves traditional fishing purposes but also holds significant historical and cultural value. It was once the largest port in Lanyang and an important gateway for Toucheng, through which many merchants and various daily necessities passed. The term "Shigang Chunfan" reflects the busy scene of merchant ships gathering and the continuous flow of vessels coming and going. However, after a flood in 1878 caused significant sediment buildup, along with an incident in 1883 when a large American ship ran aground here, Wushi Harbor lost its functionality and gradually fell into decline, affecting the prosperity of Toucheng at that time. After the harbor was rebuilt in 1991, Wushi Harbor transformed into a popular tourist and leisure fishing port. The old Wushi Harbor site has been planned as a conservation wetland, and the harbor features a tourist fish market, the "Wushi Fishing Harbor Direct Sales Center," and a yacht harbor, where visitors can enjoy delicious seafood while taking in the beautiful views of the harbor and vessels. Wushi Harbor has captured the hearts of many food lovers and is also a paradise for surfers! With its flat and wide sandy beach and spacious surfing area, skilled surfers gather to chase the waves during weekends, while the simple beach volleyball courts bring joy and fun to kids and adults alike. The soft sand makes playing beach volleyball safe and comfortable! It is recommended to also visit the nearby visitor center and the famous Lanyang Museum on this trip to Wushi, where you can get close to the ocean, taste delicious food, and learn about the beauty of Lanyang culture!
