Wushi Harbor Introduction
If you love surfing and challenging yourself, enjoy the thrill of racing over the sea, or want to indulge in fresh seafood, then a trip to Wushi Harbor is a must! The name "Wushi" comes from the large black rocks within the harbor. This fishing port located in Toucheng Township has significant historical and cultural importance, as it was once the largest port in Lanyang and an important gateway to Toucheng. Many merchants and various essential goods passed through here, and "Shigang Chunfan" describes the bustling scene of merchant ships gathering and boats coming and going. However, after a flood in 1878 that caused severe siltation and the grounding of a large American ship in 1883, Wushi Harbor lost its functionality and gradually declined, impacting the prosperity of Toucheng at that time. After the harbor was reconstructed in 1991, Wushi Harbor transformed into a popular recreational fishing port that many people love today. The old Wushi Harbor site has been developed into a conservation wetland, and within the harbor, there is a tourist fish market known as the "Wushi Fishing Port Direct Sales Center" and a yacht harbor, allowing visitors to enjoy delicious seafood while appreciating the beautiful scenery of the harbor and its vessels. In addition to capturing the hearts of many foodies, Wushi Harbor is also a paradise for surfers! The flat and wide sandy beach and expansive surfing area host many skilled surfers during weekends as they chase the waves. Additionally, the beach features simple volleyball courts where both children and adults can enjoy playful moments, with the fine sand providing a safe and comfortable experience for beach volleyball! It is recommended to visit the nearby visitor center and the famous Lanyang Museum during your trip, so you can get closer to the ocean, savor delicious food, and also learn about the cultural beauty of the Lanyang area during your journey to Wushi!
