Mashan Observation Station Introduction
Located in Jinsha Township, Matsu, Mashan is only 2,100 meters away from the nearby Jiao Island, and during low tide, it is just 1,800 meters away, making it the closest point between Kinmen and Matsu. In the past, it served as a military fortress for observing maritime activities across the strait and is known as "the first outpost under heaven." After entering the observation station, visitors will pass through a section of combat readiness tunnels, which are equipped with military facilities such as bunkers. On clear days, the stunning view of Mount Hongjian in Fujian can be seen, bringing the military history back to life and making it a popular tourist attraction! The Mashan Broadcasting Station, located alongside the road leading to the Mashan Observation Station, is akin to the Guningtou Beishan Broadcasting Station and serves as the frontline for psychological warfare broadcasts directed at the mainland, colloquially referred to as the "shouting station" by locals. The late singer Teresa Teng also broadcast from the Mashan Broadcasting Station to the other side on two occasions. With the passage of time, psychological warfare broadcasting is no longer necessary, and now it occasionally plays popular music and Taiwanese songs.
