Mashan Observation Station Introduction
Matsu's Mashan, located in Jinshe Town, is only 2,100 meters from the nearby Jiao Island and just 1,800 meters during low tide, making it the closest point between Jinmen and Xiamen. In the past, it served as a military stronghold to observe maritime activities on the opposite shore and is known as the "First Post Under Heaven." Upon entering the observation station, visitors pass through a military tunnel equipped with gun emplacements and other military facilities. On clear days, Fujian's Hongjian Mountain is clearly visible, bringing back memories of its military history, making it a popular tourist attraction! The Mashan Broadcasting Station is located beside the entrance to the Mashan observation station. Similar to the Guningtou Beishan Broadcasting Station, it served as the frontline for psychological warfare broadcasts to the mainland and is commonly referred to by locals as the "shouting station." The late singer Teresa Teng also broadcast to the other side twice from Mashan Broadcasting Station. With the passage of time, such psychological warfare broadcasts are no longer necessary, and only occasional popular music and Taiwanese songs are played.
