Mashan Observation Station Introduction
Located in Jinsan Township, Matsu's Mashan is only 2,100 meters away from Jiao Island across the sea, and during low tide, it is merely 1,800 meters away, making it the closest point between Kinmen and Matsu. In the past, it served as a military stronghold for observing maritime activities on the opposite shore and is known as "The First Outpost under Heaven." Upon entering the observation station, visitors pass through a section of military bunkers, which includes gun forts and other military facilities. On clear days, Fuzhou's Hongjian Mountain is clearly visible, reviving memories of its military past and transforming it into a popular tourist attraction! The Mashan Broadcasting Station is located next to the entrance of the Mashan Observation Station and is similar to the Guningtou Beishan Broadcasting Station. It serves as the frontline for psychological warfare communication with mainland China, colloquially referred to by locals as the "talking station." The late singer Teresa Teng even broadcasted twice from the Mashan Broadcasting Station to the opposite shore. Over time, the need for psychological warfare communication has diminished, and currently, it occasionally plays popular music and Taiwanese songs.
