Ba Yi Workshop Introduction
This mountain studio, shrouded in mist, has a beautiful name, "Ba-i." "Ba-i" is a term of endearment for "women" in the Paiwan language, embodying the meaning of "dear." Established after the Morakot typhoon, it is a women's workshop dedicated to producing traditional Paiwan ceramic beads. The Morakot typhoon not only severely impacted the lives of the residents in Jialan but also devastated the local culture. Feeling the cultural loss in the aftermath of the disaster, the women decided to revitalize their community's industry by founding the "Jialan Ba-i Workshop" in the Jialan community. A group of mothers living in the tribe began creating handcrafted ceramic beads, setting up a creative platform similar to a workshop station. Under the guidance of Wu Shulun, who has long studied Paiwan culture, they started exploring the cultural creativity of the ceramic bead workshop and initiated relevant research on product design, gradually crafting exquisite ceramic bead art that embodies the spirit of indigenous culture.
