Ba Yi Workshop Introduction
This mountain studio shrouded in mist has a beautiful name, "Bai," which is an affectionate term for "women" in the Paiwan language, embodying the meaning of "dear." It is a women's workshop for producing traditional Paiwan ceramic beads established after the Morakot disaster. The Morakot disaster not only inflicted heavy damage on Jialan's livelihood but also on its culture. Feeling the loss of tribal culture due to the disaster, the women established the "Jialan Bai Workshop" in the Jialan community to revitalize the tribal industry. A group of mothers living in the tribe began creating handmade ceramic beads, setting up a creative platform similar to a workstation. Under the guidance of Wu Shulun, who has long studied Paiwan culture, they started to explore the cultural creativity of ceramic bead workshops and initiated research related to product design, gradually developing exquisite ceramic bead crafts imbued with indigenous cultural spirit.
