Bari Workshop Introduction
This mountain studio shrouded in mist has a beautiful name, "Bali." "Bali" is a term of endearment used by the Paiwan people to refer to "women," carrying the meaning of "beloved." This women's workshop for producing traditional Paiwan ceramic beads was established after the Morakot disaster. The Morakot disaster not only severely impacted the lives of the residents in Jialan but also devastated their culture. Aware of the cultural loss in their community due to the disaster, the women established the "Jialan Bali Workshop" to revitalize local industry. Thus, a group of mothers living in the community began creating handmade ceramic beads. They set up a creative platform similar to a workspace and, under the guidance of Wu Shulun, who has extensively researched Paiwan culture, started engaging in cultural and creative projects in the ceramic bead workshop, which began a step-by-step process of developing exquisite ceramic bead crafts infused with indigenous cultural spirit.
