Dong Yi Cheng Nostalgic Grocery Store Introduction
Founded in 1959 by Kang Wan-sheng and Hsu An-mien (the current owner Grandma An-mien), "Dong Yi Cheng Store" is a traditional grocery store that sells tobacco, alcohol, tea, rice, oil, salt, canned salted fish, daily necessities, candies, and cookies, offering a wider variety than today's convenience stores. The peak years of Dong Yi Cheng were from the 1960s to the 1970s when it served as the main ticket sales point for the Changhua Bus in Puli, allowing locals to travel to Changhua and Lugang. Although modern Taiwanese people often go to convenience stores, PX Mart, or large supermarkets, there's a certain warmth that seems to be lacking. This warmth is the driving force behind Grandma An-mien's commitment to the old store; she enjoys chatting with young customers and showing care for her neighbors. After more than 60 years, Dong Yi Cheng remains a place that sells warmth and humanity! Retail of Snacks & Souvenirs Features: - The only nostalgic grocery store in Puli with a 60-year history, serving as a warm tourist information center. - The only post office in Taiwan named after "Dong Yi Cheng," selling Taiwanese stamps and special postal booklets. - The only creative souvenirs exhibition center at Puli Station, offering Sun Moon Lake and Puli postcards.
