First Eel Workshop Introduction
Many people do not know that in Punan Village of Kouhu Township, there is a place known as the "Hometown of Eel." It is also the only community in Taiwan entirely dedicated to eel farming. Since the establishment of the first eel pond in 1969, at the peak of the eel industry in 1986, nearly 96% of the villagers were engaged in eel farming, creating an economic miracle for Taiwan and earning the title of "Kingdom of Eel." The First Eel Pond, as the name suggests, is the first eel pond in the hometown of eels. It has endured the hardships of the eel industry and embodies the spirit of the people of Haikou, who, facing adverse conditions, work diligently, remain steadfast, and do not bow to fate.
