Oucuo Settlement Introduction
Ouzhuo Village, recognized as one of the traditional settlements in Kinmen, preserves a group of Minnan traditional buildings while exhibiting a more rustic appearance. It is roughly divided into upper and lower communities by a "Kuchi" (a reservoir). The upper community is primarily characterized by ancestral halls and clusters of large residences, while the lower community mainly consists of ancient houses with a one-lot and four-cornered layout, showcasing the "comb-style layout" feature aimed at regulating temperature. Visitors to Ouzhuo Village often come to experience the everyday life of Kinmen. Although there are not many tourist attractions here aside from the Ouyang Family Temple and Shuntian Store, it faithfully presents the most genuine scenes of daily life. For instance, the flat-roofed structures are commonly seen throughout Ouzhuo Village; for a village reliant on the sea, the flat roofs are the most suitable facilities for drying fish. Although fishing is no longer the primary economic source for Ouzhuo, the memories of the past are still vividly imprinted on the landscape, preserving a connection to its history.
