Fenglian Mountain Muma Temple Introduction
The temple is dedicated to Chen Yuan, the "Ka Yi En Zhu," and is built in the traditional three-part layout. It was rebuilt during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty and is designated as a county-level historical site. According to legend, Chen Yuan often appeared to drive away invaders and protect the villagers, prompting the government to order the construction of a magnificent temple with seven courtyards. The temple was awarded the plaque "Fu Ji" and was posthumously honored as "Fuyou Shenghou," which is the origin of the Muma Hou Temple. Inside the temple, there exists the ancient "Fu Ji" plaque and an ancient tablet from the Qing Dynasty. Additionally, the dragon and tiger walls on both sides of the temple, as well as the ridge tiles adorned with Chiayi, mud sculptures, and exquisite decorations, are all worth a closer look.
