Guogang Lake Scenic Area Introduction
Gugang Lake Scenic Area is located in the southwestern corner of Jincheng Township. Gugang Lake is currently the only natural lake remaining in Kinmen, surrounded by lush greenery from Lianggong Mountain, Hong Mountain, and Damao Mountain. The drooping willows by the lakeshore sway gently in the wind, and the "Eurasian Hoopoe," which is not found on Taiwan Island, often forages on the lawn. The area is also a gathering place for various waterfowl. The beautiful scenery of Gugang Lake allows visitors to relax and rejuvenate, making it suitable for children to run and play on the grass, as well as for afternoon strolls and visits to Gugang Tower, providing a delightful travel experience. Gugang Tower is an elegant, traditional building situated on Gugang Lake, constructed in 1964 by Mr. Chuang Wunian, a painter, temple restoration expert, and antiquities collector from Tamsui, Taipei. The square three-story structure reflects the green waves of Gugang Lake, resembling a picturesque traditional Chinese landscape painting, exuding an air of elegance. Climbing to the top of Gugang Tower offers a panoramic view of the lakeside scenery, where on sunny days the shimmering waves and the harmonious blend of mountains and water depict a serene holiday atmosphere.
