Mushroom Museum Introduction

The first museum in Taiwan dedicated to microbiology, established in January 2011, was planned and set up by the Bainan Biotechnology Group in collaboration with a group of microbiology experts from Taiwan and the United States. The name "Microbe Treasure" is derived from the Taiwanese pronunciation for "very precious," embodying the meaning of "treasures or gems" associated with microbes. The initial intent of its establishment was to address the public's limited understanding of the ubiquitous microbes in their daily lives, as well as the fears and rejections they often hold. Through the interactive exhibits and experiential exploration at the Microbe Treasure Museum, we aim to educate the public about microbiology, fostering a deeper understanding of the microbial world, while also highlighting that not all bacteria are harmful; there are many beneficial microbes that serve as treasures to humanity.
