Yilan Riverside Park Introduction
During the Japanese colonial period, the governor of Yilan saw that the Yilan River often flooded, so he began to build dikes to rectify the river. At that time, the Yilan River had abundant water, and standing on the dike to enjoy the scenery, one could see the reflection of the mountains on the water's surface, resembling a painting, and it was chosen as one of the Eighteen Scenic Spots of Lanyang. Now, after planning, the Yilan River has undergone renovations, including the construction of facilities such as an athletics field, basketball court, and baseball field, as well as the greening of nearby riverbanks and landscapes, turning it into a riverside park that serves as a great place for festival celebrations and a relaxing spot for cycling on regular days or holidays. The Yilan River bike path, planned along the riverbank, is approximately 15 kilometers long, starting from the riverside park. Along the way, cyclists can admire the beautiful scenery of the Yilan River and pass by attractions such as the Xixiang Office Xiande Monument, reaching the endpoint at Yuanshan Park to enjoy leisurely time. The riverside park, with its vast expanse of green pastures, is not only a popular sports venue for locals but also a favored spot for tourists, providing an escape from all worries and fatigue.
