Yilan Riverside Park Introduction

During the Japanese colonial period, the head of Yilan Prefecture noticed that the Yilan River frequently flooded, so he began to construct levees to manage the river's flow. At that time, the Yilan River had abundant water, and standing on the levee to view the scenery, one could see the reflection of the mountains on the water's surface, resembling a painted screen, which led to it being selected as one of the Eighteen Sceneries of Lanyang. Today, after planning, the Yilan River has seen the construction of facilities such as an athletics field, basketball court, and baseball field. The nearby banks and landscapes have also been greened, transforming the area into a riverside park, a great place for festive celebrations as well as relaxation and cycling on regular days or holidays. The Yilan River Line bike path, which runs along the river embankment, is approximately 15 kilometers long, starting from the riverside park. Along the way, one can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Yilan River and pass by attractions such as the Xixiang Hall Xian De Political Monument, eventually reaching the endpoint at Yuanshan Park, where one can enjoy a leisurely and carefree time. The riverside park, with its vast green pastures, is not only a popular sports venue for locals but also a favored spot for tourists, allowing them to sweep away all their worries and fatigue.
