Yilan Riverside Park Introduction
During the Japanese colonial period, the head of the Yilan Prefecture observed that the Yilan River often flooded. As a result, the construction of embankments and river regulation began. At that time, the Yilan River had abundant water flow, and standing on the embankment, one could see the reflection of the mountains on the water surface, resembling a picturesque painting. This feature led to it being selected as one of the "Eighteen Scenic Spots of Lanyang." Today, following a comprehensive plan, the Yilan River has been developed to include facilities such as stadiums for athletics, basketball, and baseball. The surrounding riverbanks and landscapes have also been landscaped, transforming it into a riverside park that hosts festival celebrations and serves as a wonderful place for relaxation and cycling on ordinary days and holidays. The Yilan River bicycle path, which runs along the embankment, is approximately 15 kilometers long, starting from the riverside park. Cyclists can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Yilan River along the way, passing by attractions like the Xiyang Hall's Xiande Zhengbei, and eventually reaching the endpoint, Yuanshan Park, to enjoy a leisurely time. The riverside park, featuring vast and endless green pastures, is not only a popular sports venue for locals but also a beloved spot for tourists, providing a perfect escape from all worries and fatigue.
