Daping Red Bridge Introduction
Following the San Keng Bicycle Path, you can directly ride to the Daping Red Bridge, which was once voted as one of the top 100 historical buildings in the country. Located in the San Keng Village of Longtan District, the bridge is named for its brick construction, hence the name "Red Bridge." This bridge was built in 1923, initiated by the residents of Daping and San Keng Village, and was constructed with the support of the local government and donations from villagers, as well as contributions from Japanese benefactors. The construction was handled by the Okura construction company, using clear water bricks similar to those employed in the Taoyuan Ditch project. The bridge spans over 10 meters and crosses the Datiekan Creek, serving as a major connection for the residents of Daping Village. It has five elegant arches, and it remains intact to this day. Currently, the area around the Daping Red Bridge has been planned as a waterfront park, making it a great place for leisure.
