Daping Red Bridge Introduction
Following the San Keng Cycling Path, you can directly ride to the Daping Red Bridge, which was once voted as one of the top 100 historical buildings in the country. Located in San Keng Village, Longtan District, it is named the Red Bridge because the entire structure is built with red bricks. This bridge was constructed in 1923, initiated by the residents of Daping and San Keng, and built with the assistance of the local township office, donations from villagers, and contributions from Japanese benefactors. It was constructed by the Okura Construction Company using the same clear bricks as those used in the Taoyuan Main Canal project. The bridge spans approximately ten meters and crosses the Datiekeng Stream, once serving as the main communication route for the residents of Daping. It features five elegant arch spans and remains intact to this day. The area around Daping Red Bridge has now been planned as a riverside park, making it a great place for leisure activities.
