Daping Red Bridge Introduction
Following the Sankeng Bicycle Path, you can ride directly to the Daping Red Bridge, which was once voted as one of the top 100 historical buildings in the country. It is located in Sankeng Village, Longtan District, and is named "Red Bridge" because the entire bridge is constructed of red bricks. This bridge was built in 1923 with the initiative of the residents of Daping and Sankeng, aided by subsidies from the village office (district office) and donations from local residents and Japanese benefactors. The construction was carried out by Okura Construction Company, using the same clean bricks as the Taoyuan Dazun construction project. The bridge is approximately ten meters long and spans the Datiekeng Stream. It was once the main access route for the residents of Daping to the outside world and features five elegant arches, remaining intact to this day. Currently, the area around Daping Red Bridge has been planned as a waterfront park, making it a great place for leisure activities.
