Dapinghong Bridge Introduction
Riding along the Sankeng Bicycle Path leads directly to the Daping Red Bridge, which was once voted as one of the top 100 historical buildings in the country. This bridge is located in Sankeng Village, Longtan District, and is named for its entirely red brick construction. Built in 1923, the bridge was initiated by the residents of Daping and Sankeng, with funding from the local township office and donations from villagers, as well as contributions from the Japanese. The construction was handled by Daikura Construction Company, using the same clear water bricks as those used in the Taoyuan Ditch project. The bridge is approximately ten meters long and spans the Datiekeng Stream. It was the main communication route for Daping residents and features five elegant arches, remaining in excellent condition to this day. The area around the Daping Red Bridge has been developed into a waterfront park, making it a popular recreational spot.
