Jia'an Village (Shimen Shiyifen) Introduction
Longtan Shiyifen has preserved the dormitory complex where American engineers lived during the construction of the Shimen Reservoir. It is a 50-year-old building that blends Japanese and American architectural styles, featuring vast grasslands and shady trees, making it one of the famous leisure spots in Taoyuan City. In front of the Shimen Reservoir Administration, the Shimen Great Lawn is quite spacious, attracting many children and adults to fly kites, play football, or have picnics. The surrounding area is filled with African mahogany and camphor trees, providing shade for the public to rest. In addition, many cherry blossom trees have been planted in the dormitory area, creating a stunning sight when they bloom in spring. Moreover, the Shimen Reservoir Administration has been a filming location for several Taiwanese films, including "Our Times," "Walking Tree," and "May Day." The film "Our Times" was shot in Jia'an Village, where the main character's home is located. Visitors can walk through the scenes from the movie and reminisce about its youthful and humorous storylines. Additionally, the nearby Cultural Street is a popular dining destination known for its live seafood, so many people flock here to enjoy great food, chase stars in Jia'an Village, picnic on the Great Lawn in front of the Northern District Water Resources Bureau, and fly kites.
