A8 Art and Cultural Center Introduction
The A8 Art and Cultural Center, which has attracted over ten thousand visitors in its first year, was created to provide a leisurely artistic enclave for the city, allowing people to enjoy rare moments of tranquility. Located on the third floor of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital MRT station complex and near the Global Mall, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and Fullon Hotel, the A8 Art and Cultural Center spans a large area and focuses on contemporary art and local culture. Through exhibitions, cultural and creative activities, workshops, and lectures, it conveys the beauty of refined living. The opening exhibition, “Opening the Door to Local Culture,” emphasizes the concept of opening a door to understanding one's home, promoting local culture. Each performance and exhibit features local elements, beautifully showcasing the connection between people and land, and between individuals. The exhibition “Art Journey through Local Culture” collaborates with "Tea Seed Hall" and printmaker Mu Ran to highlight the culture of Tamsui bitter tea. The “City Stories & New Memories” exhibition invites locals to reminisce about their hometown through seemingly mundane items such as yellowed photographs, a train ticket, and grocery store posters. The “Unique Stories” exhibition allows an illustrator to narrate the stories of military dependents' villages through artwork, capturing the essence of time on paper. Aiming not only to become a new cultural highlight, the A8 Art and Cultural Center also prioritizes the promotion of parent-child arts activities. Therefore, in both the “Opening the Door to Local Culture” and “Wild Sprinkling” exhibitions, independent bookstores present picture books related to the themes, creating shared reading moments for parents and children. Various interactive activities are designed, such as branch pen doodling, portrait illustration, and print coloring, to stimulate children's imaginations, embodying the idea that art transcends age and allowing children to deeply experience the character of the city they live in.
