A8 Art and Cultural Center Introduction
The A8 Art and Culture Center, established to create a comfortable artistic corner in the city for people to enjoy rare moments of leisure, has attracted over ten thousand visitors in its first year. Located on the third floor of the Changgeng Hospital MRT Station complex, the A8 Art and Culture Center is near the Global Mall, Changgeng Hospital, and the Fullon Hotel. With a spacious area of over a hundred pings, it focuses on contemporary art and local culture, conveying the beauty of a refined lifestyle through diverse methods such as exhibitions, cultural and creative activities, workshops, and lectures. Similar to the opening exhibition “Opening the Door to Local Culture,” which embodies the curatorial concept of opening a door to understand one’s homeland, the A8 Art and Culture Center promotes local culture. Each exhibition and performance is rich in local elements, showcasing the beautiful sparks between people and the land, and between people themselves. The “Art Travel Local Culture” exhibition collaborates with "Tea Seed Hall" and printmaker Mu Ran to deeply illuminate the culture of Guishan Bitter Tea. The “City Stories and New Memories” exhibition invites locals to revisit their hometown emotions through seemingly ordinary items like faded photographs, train tickets, and grocery store posters. The “Distinctive” exhibition uses illustrations to tell stories of military dependents' villages, capturing the passage of time on paper. Not only aiming to become a new cultural highlight, the A8 Art and Culture Center also primarily focuses on promoting parent-child artistic activities. Therefore, both the “Opening the Door to Local Culture” and “Sprinkling the Wilderness” exhibitions feature picture books relevant to their themes from independent bookstores, creating shared reading moments for parents and children. Various experiential activities like branch pencil graffiti, portrait illustrations, and print coloring are designed to stimulate children's imagination, realizing the idea that art knows no age, and allowing children to deeply experience the urban landscape in which they live.
