Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
The Plastics Industry Museum of Formosa Plastics Group was established to document the company's struggles and growth history, and to complete a collection of relevant artifacts that reflect the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics. The museum aims to serve as an information center for sustainable corporate development, passing on the corporate spirit. It is hoped that through understanding the overall development history of Formosa Plastics, the public will appreciate the profound significance of Taiwan's post-war economic development. Formosa Plastics Group originated from the establishment of Taiwan Plastics Company in 1954, which started with a production of four tons of PVC powder per day. It is the only known entity with such a minimal production scale in the world. After decades of effort and overcoming various challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder manufacturers globally. This not only marked the beginning of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also propelled the thriving development of the plastic processing industry, significantly contributing to the nation's economic development. With a diverse development approach starting from the plastics industry, Formosa Plastics has gradually expanded into various sectors including petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industries, energy, automotive, and biotechnology, while also pursuing overseas investments. Throughout its corporate development, adhering to the tenet of "taking from society and giving back to society," Formosa Plastics has also initiated medical and educational public welfare projects, contributing to the broader community. It is currently one of the largest private enterprises in Taiwan.
