Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
The Formosa Plastics Cultural Museum was established to document the struggles and growth of Formosa Plastics Corporation, which originated from the founding of Taiwan Plastics Company in 1954. Starting with a production of four tons of PVC powder per day, it has become one of the largest PVC powder producers in the world, overcoming numerous challenges over the decades. This company not only initiated the nascent stage of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also spurred the flourishing development of the plastic processing industry, contributing significantly to the national economic advancement. Formosa Plastics' diversified development began with the plastic industry and gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automotive, and biotechnology sectors, while also broadening its overseas investment ventures. Throughout its corporate development, the company adheres to the principle of "taking from society, giving back to society" by initiating medical, educational, and other social welfare endeavors, thereby returning benefits to the public, making it one of the largest private enterprises in the country. To comprehensively collect relevant artifacts that reflect the company’s development journey and to present the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics, the "Formosa Plastics Cultural Museum" was established. It aims to serve as an information center for the company's sustainable development while passing on the corporate spirit. Additionally, it hopes that the public can understand the profound implications of Taiwan's post-war economic development through learning about the overall progress of Formosa Plastics.
