Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
The Formosa Plastics Group Museum was established to document the struggles and growth of Formosa Plastics Group, which originated from the Taiwan Plastics Corporation founded in 1954. Starting with a production of four tons of PVC powder per day, it has grown to be one of the largest PVC powder manufacturers in the world, overcoming numerous obstacles over the decades. The company not only laid the groundwork for Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also stimulated the booming plastics processing industry, contributing significantly to the national economy. Formosa Plastics Group has diversified its operations, expanding from the plastics industry into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industries, energy, automotive, and biotechnology, while also extending its overseas investment ventures. Throughout its development, the company has adhered to the principle of "returning to society what it takes from society," launching social welfare initiatives in healthcare and education to give back to the public, and is currently one of the largest private enterprises in Taiwan. To preserve the historical artifacts related to the company’s development process and to present the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics Group, the Formosa Plastics Group Museum was established. It aims to serve as an information center for sustainable development and to pass on the spirit of the enterprise, while also enabling the public to understand the profound implications of Taiwan's post-war economic development through the history of Formosa Plastics Group.
