Medicine Buddha Zen Temple Introduction

The Yaoshi Buddha Zen Temple mainly worships the Namo Eastern Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha. The second floor is the Mahavira Hall where the Three Treasures Buddha is enshrined, providing devotees with opportunities for divination, lighting lamps, and visiting and praying. In his past lives, the Medicine Buddha made twelve great vows to relieve the suffering of sentient beings, avert disasters, prolong life, and bestow blessings. After Buddhism spread to East Asia, it gained popularity, with the main scripture being the Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata's Fundamental Vows and Merits Sutra. The temple enshrines the Namo Eastern Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata, flanked on both sides by the Sunlight Universal Illuminating Bodhisattva and the Moonlight Universal Illuminating Bodhisattva, along with the Three Treasures Buddha, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Sixty Life-Guarding Bodhisattvas. It is one of the few temples in Taiwan primarily dedicated to the Medicine Buddha. Every year, on the birthday of the Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha (the twenty-ninth day of the ninth lunar month), the temple invites devotees to come and pay respects.
