Dong'an Ancient Bridge, Kuanxi Introduction
The Dong'an Bridge, spanning the Niulan River, is a five-arch stone bridge that combines both structure and aesthetics. Formerly known as "Cai Feng Bridge," it was built in 1933 (Shōwa 8) and serves as a crucial route connecting the Kuanxi neighborhood and Dong'an Village. Originally, Dong'an Bridge was just a wooden footbridge that was washed away during floods, disrupting transportation. Local residents advocated for the bridge's construction, hiring a Japanese engineer to design it and employing workers to collect finely textured stones from the Jincheng area, which were then manually transported to the site. It was constructed under the guidance of the renowned local stonemason Li Zhen. After decades of use, the bridge remains intact, demonstrating the high level of engineering and craftsmanship involved.
