Taoshan Elementary School Introduction
Strolling along the Qingquan No. 2 Suspension Bridge, with the mountain breeze gently brushing against you, you’ll reach a verdant haven at the end, which is the Tao Mountain Elementary School, a small school protected by the lush green of the mountains. As you ascend the steps, the walls inside and outside the campus are adorned with unique Atayal totem murals and mosaic patterns. A century-old zelkova tree stands resiliently beside the red and white striped school track, surrounded by traditional Atayal bamboo houses, granaries, and lookout towers that represent the early lifestyle of the Atayal people. Despite having faced severe weather disasters, Tao Mountain Elementary School does not exude the sorrow of storms but instead radiates an atmosphere filled with art and the sounds of nature, making it a pure paradise. The 1994 Typhoon Eric greatly impacted the village of Tao Mountain, with the suspension bridge in front of the school washed away by floodwaters, resulting in total traffic disruption. However, the school remained resilient, and through the collective efforts of teachers and students over the years, the Atayal Cultural Museum was established on campus, displaying a wealth of Atayal cultural artifacts, along with a "Traditional Atayal Granary" and a "Traditional Atayal Bamboo House," making it a worthwhile experience to visit.
