Bai Lan Creek Historic Trail Introduction

Tayal Hunting Trail - A Century-Old Gorge Trail - Cool Cold Springs is located at the "Bailan Creek Ancient Trail" in Bailan Village, Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County. This traditional pathway used by the Tayal ancestors for migration, hunting, and family visits has a history of over 400 years. Once connecting places like Qingquan, Nanzhuang, and Guanwuu, this trail has been carefully restored by the tribal members, transforming it into a hiking trail that combines cultural and natural charm. The entire ancient trail is approximately 2 kilometers long, starting from Bailan Village, featuring a well-paved wooden pathway that meanders through straight and towering Cryptomeria japonica forests and lush bamboo groves, accompanied by the soothing sounds of Bailan Creek. The serene mountains and fresh air make one feel as if they are in a natural forest aroma therapy oasis. Along the trail, not only are the views pleasant, but it also conceals many surprises of nature and history, including the "Artillery Ruins," a testament to how the ancestors once defended against invaders, the summer cooling haven "Bailan Cold Springs," and the peculiar and mysterious "Ice Mouth" geological landscape, adding excitement to the hiking journey.
