Dashanbei Qilin Trail Introduction
Qilin Trail, located in the Tianliao Village of Dashanbei, is one of the trails in the Dashanbei Trail Group, along with the Daqidong Ancient Trail, Qilong Ancient Trail, and Chatin Ancient Trail. The Dashanbei area is renowned for its rich natural ecology, frequently visited by conservation groups in Hsinchu for nature observation, and is a permanent observation point for the Wilderness Society. The initial section features brick paths and stone steps that ascend gently, flanked by lush forests with primitive vegetation and abundant wildlife. Along the way, visitors can appreciate the vibrant bloom of mountain cherry blossoms and gaze at the Feifeng Mountain Range. Upon reaching the pavilion, one can overlook the Shangping Creek and the city of Zhudong, before the trail steepens into a 45-degree incline known as the Hero Slope, which requires a rope for assistance in climbing. The summit of Tianliao Mountain stands at an elevation of 647 meters, but the peak is nestled within the forest without any stone markers or viewpoints. Visitors can descend via the same route or take a circular route down to Beiwau. If time permits, one can also explore nearby attractions such as the Qilong Ancient Trail, Daqidong Ancient Trail, and Nuomi Ancient Bridge.
