Nanquan Ancient Trail Introduction
Nanping Old Trail is a 3.7-kilometer circular hiking path, with its entrance located above the A San Ge Restaurant in Neihu. You can turn back at the pavilion in Lover's Valley or choose to take the left fork, going through the Matai Old Trail to Yixing Bridge, then along County Road 120 to return to the starting point, completing the circular route. Additionally, the rich vegetation offers excellent views from the highest point of the wooden plank road, overlooking Neiwai Old Street. The tranquil and light-pollution-free environment, thanks to the efforts of the Hohsiung Township Office in restoration and protection, is ideal for fireflies. In the mountainous area, you can see glowing black-winged fireflies and hear the sounds of various insects. The peak time for fireflies to appear is from 7 PM to 8 PM each evening, and they prefer warm and humid weather, making rainy nights a great time to see fireflies dancing.
