Yuli Shrine Ruins Introduction
The "Yuli Shrine Ruins," located on the west side of the station, is a structure built under the street community policy during the Japanese colonial period. After World War II, the main structure was destroyed, and only two torii gates, some stone lanterns, and the worshipping steps remain, making it the most intact shrine ruins in Hualien. Originally overgrown and neglected, the shrine was listed as a historical site by Hualien County in 2008, reviving its past cultural and historical glory. Walking from the entrance torii to the top of the shrine, the path is quite gentle and easy to traverse. From the heights, one can overlook the long stairs, filled with Japanese charm, creating a unique sense of temporal and spatial intersection, and adding an air of tranquility and mystery to the shrine hidden in the mountains and forests.
