Xin Er Air Raid Shelter Introduction
- Attraction Introduction - The Xinyi Air Raid Shelter is located next to the archway of Zhongzheng Park in Keelung and is one of the largest existing air raid shelters in Keelung. The tunnels have a height of approximately 2.5 to 4 meters and a depth of about 22 meters, divided into eastern and western sections. It preserves natural rock walls and passes down historical memories to the future. - Attraction Features - The Xinyi Air Raid Shelter was a temporary command post excavated during World War II. Visitors can see the uneven exposed rock walls, water occasionally dripping, irregular drilling marks, and dim lighting, all of which add an air of mystery and reflect its natural preservation value and significance. The shelter features a design with dark red, scale-like patterns that integrate imagery of Keelung. Safety helmets are provided at the entrance to prevent injuries from collisions while walking; an elevator inside can take visitors directly to the fan-shaped plaza, connecting to Keelung Tower and Zhongzheng Park, linking to the Yier Road commercial district. - Recommended Surroundings - Visitors can take the elevator from the Xinyi Air Raid Shelter to Zhongzheng Park, skipping part of the Changhua Shrine approach. It is recommended to visit together with the Changhua Shrine (Keelung Shrine), Fan-Shaped Plaza, Keelung Tower, Zhuputan, and Zhongzheng Park.
