Zuoying St. Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Church Introduction

The St. Therese of Lisieux Chapel in Zuoying was founded by Father Anson Li of the Dominican Order in 1932, serving as the Zuoying branch of the Kaohsiung Rosary Church. Ten years later, with the cooperation of all parishioners and with scarce funds, they purchased a wooden factory building, which was dismantled to rebuild a small chapel with wooden walls, named "St. Therese of the Child Jesus Chapel," located at Beizaitou in Zuoying. As Taiwan gradually stabilized socially, the number of tourists visiting Zuoying increased. To promote the Christian Gospel and the teachings of St. Therese, ground was broken on Easter 1976, and a statue of St. Therese was erected, which was granted the designation of "Southern Pilgrimage Site of St. Therese" by Pope Paul VI. The quaint white church is adorned with stained glass windows and rose decorations, beloved by St. Therese, adding a gentle and tranquil atmosphere to this serene holy place.
