Taichung: Ah Chong's Taro Cultural Hall Introduction
【Evaluation Validity Period: 2023/08/22-2026/08/21】 A-Chong is the founder of Taro Pastry in Taiwan. He entered the industry in 1960 and has always insisted on using locally sourced materials, incorporating local crops into each pastry he makes, allowing everyone to taste the flavors of his hometown. He firmly believes that "if making a pastry can support a piece of land and continue to bloom and bear fruit through spring, summer, autumn, and winter," he will continue this journey, falling in love with the land and crops of his hometown for a lifetime. With his profound baking skills, he works with local ingredients to develop new pastries, aiming to "activate Greater Taichung as the capital of baking culture, achieving the new Taiwan pastry creative homeland" and finding new pathways for local industrial culture. A-Chong has been molding pastries for over half a century and has created many local specialty pastries in Taiwan. He pioneered the Taro Pastry served at state banquets, the uniquely shaped Taiwanese Cake, Mazu Pastry and Peace Ice Cake in the National Protection and Public Welfare series, and the highly popular Taro Sticks and Scallion Cakes for group purchases. A-Chong is devoted to promoting the culture of local specialty pastries in Taiwan. To contribute locally, he established the A-Chong Taro Cultural Center in his hometown, Da'an District, Taichung City, to preserve and continue local industrial culture while allowing the public to learn about traditional pastry culture, the local Taro culture of Dajia, the scallion culture of Da'an, and the brand story of A-Chong, bringing tourist influx and boosting local industrial development.
