Official Hat Mountain Geological Landscape Trail Introduction
Official Hat Mountain is located on the northeast side of Beigan Island. It is an important geological landscape unique to Matsu, named for its distinctive mountain shape resembling an official's hat. The rock layers in this area have long been sculpted by sea erosion, weathering, and tectonic activity, resulting in evident joints, folds, and layering lines, making it a natural outdoor classroom for studying island topography. Walking along the trail, visitors can enjoy the coastal line, sea cliffs, bay curves, and surrounding mountains on the east side of Beigan, making it a popular outdoor route with both natural educational and scenic value.
