Tiefort Introduction
The Iron Fortress is located on the southwestern coast of Nangan Island and is one of the most representative coastal defense sites in Matsu. The fortress is built on a giant rock jutting out into the sea, surrounded by water on all sides, making its strategic position extremely important. It is constructed with solid reinforced concrete and granite, and includes gun positions, shelters, observation holes, and shooting platforms, fully showcasing the defensive structures from the wartime era. Visitors can traverse the corridors within the fortress, ascend to the high observation platform, experience the military atmosphere of the past, and enjoy the magnificent coastal scenery along with the sounds of waves crashing against the shore.
