Long Feng Temple Introduction

The Sun Moon Lake Longfeng Temple is a historic temple with nearly a century of history. The temple is primarily dedicated to the Master of Remorse, the Empyrean Heaven Emperor, and the Heavenly Mother, making it one of the important centers of faith for the local residents. Longfeng Temple is famous for its unique 3D dragon and phoenix relief decorations, which are distinctly different from the typical painted door gods found in other temples. The floor in front of the temple is also designed with dragon and phoenix patterns, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and cultural richness. Another notable feature of Longfeng Temple is its Shrine of the Old Man Under the Moon. Originally built on Lalu Island (Guanghua Island) in Sun Moon Lake, the shrine was established in 1980 and became the first temple in Taiwan dedicated to the Old Man Under the Moon, holding water group weddings that attracted many couples and tourists. The shrine was destroyed by the 921 earthquake in 1999, and after local residents petitioned, the statue of the Old Man was relocated to Longfeng Temple at the end of 2000, officially enshrined there, becoming an important base for the Old Man under the Moon's faith in central Taiwan. Today, the Longfeng Temple's Old Man Shrine thrives, with many single men and women visiting to pray for good relationships, and legends of the Old Man's efficacy have made it a popular tourist spot in Sun Moon Lake. Longfeng Temple is not only a center of religious faith but also combines the natural beauty and romantic atmosphere of Sun Moon Lake. Visitors can experience the rich local culture and the power of faith while indulging in the romantic legend of Sun Moon Lake, known as the "Honeymoon Lake."
