Chaoge Wharf Introduction
Chaowu Pier is located on Provincial Highway 21 in Yuchi Township, Nantou, and is one of the four major piers at Sun Moon Lake. With its advantageous geographical location facing east, it is an excellent spot for watching the sunrise. Due to local climate, terrain, and hydrological conditions, the lake surface is often covered in thin mist in the early morning, creating a charming dawn mist scene illuminated by the rising sun, earning it the reputation of "Shuishe Morning Fog" and being listed as one of the eight scenic spots of Sun Moon Lake. Chaowu Pier serves as the starting point for the annual "Thousand People Swim Across Sun Moon Lake" event, which covers a distance of approximately 3.3 kilometers with the endpoint at Ita Thao Pier. The pier has undergone renovations to enhance and expand recreational spaces and platforms, as well as improve lighting facilities to provide a more comfortable recreational environment. Opening hours are from 07:00 to 18:00 during summer (approximately from April to September) and from 08:00 to 17:00 during winter (approximately from October to March). In the event of bad weather such as typhoons or heavy fog, the pier will temporarily close, and ferry services will be suspended.
