Xuangang Pier Introduction
Xuan Guang Wharf is one of the four major wharfs at Sun Moon Lake, located beneath Xuan Guang Temple in Yuchi Township, Nantou. It serves as an important docking station for ferry boats on the lake, and visitors must pass through this area to board the boats. The wharf's architecture adopts a Tang dynasty style, complemented by vintage signage that harmonizes with the nearby Xuan Guang Temple, creating an elegant and rustic atmosphere. The facilities around Xuan Guang Wharf are well-equipped, with a famous stall selling "A-Po's Tea Egg" nearby. The flavorful tea eggs have become a must-try delicacy for tourists, attracting large crowds. The wharf is also the starting point of the 850-meter-long Qinglong Mountain Trail, where visitors can first reach Xuan Guang Temple by climbing the stairs, and further ascend to reach Hsuanzang Temple. As many devout believers take the ferry to Xuan Guang Temple to worship at the two temples, this path is also referred to as the "Pilgrimage Trail." Opening hours: Summer (approximately April to September) 07:00 to 18:00; Winter (approximately October to March) 08:00 to 17:00. In the event of typhoons or dense fog, the wharf will temporarily close, and ferry services will be suspended.
