Qinglong Mountain Trail Introduction

Qinglong Mountain Trail is one of the hiking routes along the shore of Sun Moon Lake. The trail starts at Xuanguang Temple and ends near Ciji Temple, with a total length of about 850 meters. It gently ascends along the terrain, with a mild slope suitable for tourists of all ages, including the elderly and children, allowing for a leisurely walk that takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete. This trail connects three well-known local temples, including Xuanguang Temple and Xuanwu Temple, and is also referred to as the Pilgrimage Trail, as it was historically the route taken by devotees visiting Xuanwu Temple for worship. The trail is infused with rich elements of Buddhist culture, featuring moss sculpture art such as mountain gates, scriptures, little monks, and Heart Sutra planting trays, utilizing the unique high temperature and humidity of Sun Moon Lake to create an atmosphere filled with religious significance and artistic beauty. The scenery along the way is picturesque, and the square in front of Xuanguang Temple offers excellent views, allowing visitors to gaze at Lalu Island, Hanbi Peninsula, and Shuishe Pier, capturing the enchanting charm of Sun Moon Lake. The area surrounding the trail is lush and green, rich in fragrant plants such as Michelia champaca, night jasmine, jasmine, and calamus, providing an opportunity to enjoy nature's phytoncides and listen to birdsong, making for a tranquil and leisurely pilgrimage experience. Qinglong Mountain Trail is conveniently accessible, with visitors able to enter from either Xuanguang Temple or Xuanwu Temple, both of which have parking facilities.
