Shoutian Temple Introduction
Songbailing Xietian Temple, located in Mingjian Township, Nantou County, is dedicated to the Taoist deity "Beiji Xuantian Shangdi," commonly known as Shangdi Gong or Diyi Gong. Xietian Temple has a history of over 300 years since the Ming and early Qing dynasties and serves as a pilgrimage center for the worship of Xuantian Shangdi in Taiwan. Every year, from the first month to the third day of the third month in the lunar calendar, a large-scale pilgrimage takes place, attracting crowds of worshippers. The event features performances by spirit mediums and martial and literary formations, showcasing the vibrancy of Taiwanese folk beliefs.
