Ershuei Station Introduction

The development and prosperity of Ershui Township are closely intertwined with the railway; during the Japanese colonial period, three railway lines—the West Coast Main Line, Jiji Line, and Taiwan Sugar Railway—converged in this township, making it unique in this regard. As a result, the people of Ershui hold a deep emotional connection to traditional old trains. The Jiji Line was built in the early years of the Republic of China (around 1930) to transport materials for the construction of the Sun Moon Lake hydropower plant, and it later played a significant role in the transportation of agricultural products along the route. However, due to the convenience and development of highways, its operational focus has now shifted primarily to tourism and recreation.
