Nanya Rock Introduction

Welcome to the natural geological classroom – the Nanya Geopark Trail, which is also the starting point for geological exploration in the Northeast Coast. The Nanya coastline features steep mountains, resulting in well-developed sea cliffs and wave-eroded rocks. The rock layers in this area belong to the Dapuzhong Sandstone, which is hard and not easily eroded. Due to the varying hardness and thickness of the rock layers, the resistance to erosion and the rate of erosion differ, thus forming uniquely shaped large rock formations such as the famous Ice Cream Rock, Bamboo Shoot Rock, and Sea Dog Rock. The patterns on the rock surfaces resemble tree rings, recording the marks and vitality of nature over the years. Different angles provide unique views that inspire admiration. You can carefully step on the enormous rocks to enjoy the stunning scenery where the sea meets the sky; you can also admire a series of intricately crafted strange rocks from a distance, complemented by the vast blue ocean – a truly world-class wonder. The Nanya Geopark Trail allows you to closely appreciate the beauty of the Nanya strange stones. The trail runs over 300 meters, with one side facing the sea and the other against the mountains. It is rich in ecological and geological scenery, with different variations of the landscape visible at every step, making it an ideal visit for both children and adults.
