Nanya Rock Introduction
Nanya Rock, known as one of Taiwan's 36 secret spots, is located along Provincial Highway 2 from kilometer 78 to 95. The Northeast Coast Scenic Area stretches from Nanya in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, to Beigang in Yilan County, following the coastline beside the mountains. Except for the sand beaches around Yanliao and Fulong which are formed by marine sedimentation, the area is predominantly shaped by coastal erosion. Due to the interspersed soft and hard rock layers and the constant erosion caused by strong winds and giant waves from the northeast monsoon, the coastline presents a unique landscape marked by bays, capes, and peculiar rock formations. This area boasts the richest geological landscape resources in New Taipei City, with its uniquely painted patterns being particularly special. The rocks here are mainly sandstone with varying hardness, resulting in different erosion rates and resistances to sea winds, creating various unique rocky landscapes with uneven surfaces and varying depths. Notable formations include the Ice Cream Rock, Bamboo Shoot Rock, and the famous Seal Rock, which attract many photographers and tourists during sunrise and sunset, allowing them to witness the richest geological landscapes in New Taipei City.
