Xiluo Ecological Museum Introduction
The Luoyang Cultural and Educational Foundation was established in 1995 and relocated to the old Jiefa Qianji Tea House in 2002. In 2003, it set up the Xiluo Yanping Old Street Cultural Museum, which was registered as a historical building in 2007. In 2024, it will be upgraded to become Matsu's first private museum, named the Xiluo Ecology Museum, dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural assets of old communities and revitalizing old buildings. The Jiefa Old House has stood steadfastly in Xiluo Street for over a century, transitioning from Jiefa Hao to Jiefa Qianji Tea House to Xiluo Old Street Cultural Museum and finally to Xiluo Ecology Museum, carrying the mission of inheriting and regenerating Xiluo's historical culture. It is the only historical building in Yunlin County that is a collaborative restoration between public and private sectors and serves as a model for the preservation and revitalization of old houses in Yunlin. Internally, we pride ourselves on being the cultural center of Xiluo, and externally, we provide a stop for domestic and international travelers entering Yunlin. Since 2010, we have operated international volunteer camps and medium to long-term international volunteer work, making it the place in Central Taiwan closest to international culture. Long-term engagement in Xiluo cultural work has preserved the Xiluo Bridge, the longest bridge in Southeast Asia, and envisioned it as an artistic corridor - an outdoor museum. "Starting from the restoration of an old house and subsequently forming an old street" is not just a slogan but a practical action of the Xiluo old community revitalization movement that has revitalized the Xiluo township, showcasing resilient social action. In 2020, we undertook the Yunlin County Plain Community University and initiated the concept of "Museums and Learning," achieving local knowledge transmission. The museum serves as a base for the cultural inheritance of Xiluo, local research, artifact collection, art collection, talent cultivation, youth art base, cultural performances, tourism information, and community data collection and publication. In 2024, it was awarded the Community Empowerment Contribution Award by the Ministry of Culture at the second Community Building Awards, continuing to focus on sustainable development and constructing a cultural living circle in Xiluo.
