Yau-Po Mountain Leisure Agriculture Area Introduction
Yao Po Mountain is located to the south of the Xueshan National Park Headquarters, and its shape resembles a giant eagle poised for takeoff. In Hakka, "Yao Po" means eagle. Yao Po Mountain is situated to the south of the Qing'an area at the lower reaches of the Wenshui River, with the highest point reaching 910 meters, at the northern end of the Malabuan Mountain Range. The rock layers within the range are tilted to the west, resulting in a topography characterized by steep eastern slopes and a gentle western incline, forming one of the most typical dorsal ridges in Taiwan. The geological layers of Yao Po Mountain belong to the Ganding Mountain Sandstone. Due to the calcium content in the sandstone, the rock layers are remarkably hard and protruding, resembling a giant eagle spreading its wings, an awe-inspiring sight that led local villagers to name it Yao Po Mountain.
