Yao Po Mountain Agricultural Tourism Area Introduction
Yao Po Mountain is located to the south of the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters, resembling a giant eagle poised for flight. In Hakka, "Yao Po" means eagle. Yao Po Mountain sits south of Qing'an along the Wenshui River's lower reach, with its highest point at 910 meters, situated at the northern end of the Malabuan Mountain Range. The rock layers in the mountain range tilt to the west, and the mountain shape results from differential erosion, creating an east-steep, west-sloping, dolphin-back terrain, making it one of the most representative dolphin-back ridge sceneries in Taiwan. The geological strata of Yao Po Mountain belong to the Kuan Tao Shan Sandstone, which is hard due to calcium content, and the rock layers rise sharply, resembling a giant eagle spreading its wings, creating an awe-inspiring presence, which is why the locals once referred to it as Yao Po Mountain.
