Yao Po Mountain Tourist Agricultural Area Introduction
Ya Po Mountain is located to the south of the Shei-pa National Park Headquarters, and its shape resembles a giant eagle ready to take off. In Hakka, "Ya Po" means eagle. Ya Po Mountain is situated south of Qing'an at the lower reaches of the Wenshui River, with the highest point at 910 meters, located at the northern end of the Malabuan Mountain Range. The rock layers within this range tilt to the west, resulting in a topography characterized by differential erosion that creates a steeper eastern slope and a gentler western slope, making it one of the most typical ridged landscapes in Taiwan. The geological layer of Ya Po Mountain belongs to the Jian dao Mountain sandstone, which is hard due to its calcium content. The prominent rock formations resemble a giant eagle spreading its wings, creating an impressive spectacle, which led the locals to refer to it as Ya Po Mountain in the past.
