Yao Po Mountain Tourism Agricultural Area Introduction
Yao-Po Mountain is located south of the Snow Mountain National Park Administration Office, its shape resembling a giant eagle about to take flight. In Hakka, "Yao-Po" means eagle. Yao-Po Mountain is situated south of the Qing'an area along the Wenshui River's lower reaches, with its highest point at 910 meters, located at the northern end of the Malabuan Mountain Range. The rock layers in the mountains tilt to the west, and the mountain shape is the result of differential erosion, forming the eastern steep and western sloping topography characteristic of Taiwan’s standard hogback ridges. The geological formation of Yao-Po Mountain consists of the Knife Mountain sandstone, which is hard due to its calcium content, and the rock layers protrude sharply, resembling a giant eagle spreading its wings, creating a majestic presence that captivated local residents, leading them to name it Yao-Po Mountain.
