Yongzheng Palace Introduction
Yongzheng Temple is located in Tienliao Village, Toufen City, just over a kilometer from Zhunan Township. The temple is grand yet maintains a sense of simplicity, with ancient banyan trees providing shade and a peaceful atmosphere. In the third year of Xianfeng (1853), Qing Dynasty scholar Xu Yingjian, styled Fengnan, initiated the construction of Yongzheng Temple in Tienliao. After its completion, the divine presence became evident, attracting worshippers from Toufen, Sanwan, Nanzhuang, Emei, Beipu, Zaoqiao, Zhunan, as well as residents from Hsinchu and Miaoli, leading to a communal turn towards goodness. The temple primarily enshrines Ma Zu, with a solemn statue of the goddess in the main hall. To the right is the statue of Guangze Zunwang, which is tall and magnificent, serving as the guardian deity of Quanzhou immigrants, reflecting the temple's followers from both Fujian and Canton. To the left is the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and beside the statue of Ma Zu is a rare enshrined deity, Fa Miao Xianren, making Yongzheng Temple notable as one of the few temples in Taiwan to honor this figure alongside Ma Zu. The side halls are dedicated to Wenchang Dijun, Fude Zhengshen, and Changsheng Luqi. The interior is lavishly decorated, showcasing intricate craftsmanship in various carvings. Important annual festivals are held three times: February 23 in the lunar calendar for the birthday of the Goddess, April 8 for the goddess's procession, and July 15 for the Zhongyuan Festival.
