Zhongshan Hall & Zhongzheng Building Introduction
Toufen City has a large population and has long been a commercial hub in Miaoli County. However, in the past, there were no suitable venues for cultural performances, and residents had to travel to Miaoli City or Hsinchu to enjoy cultural events. In light of this, the town hall applied for funding from the Council for Cultural Affairs and decided to renovate the Zhongshan Hall and the Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall next to the Toufen City Hall, transforming them into well-equipped performance venues. Zhongshan Hall is located in a densely populated area with convenient transportation. After renovations, it has become quite sophisticated, with high standards for its stage, sound, lighting, and air conditioning. Notably, the stage was specially deepened and widened during the reconstruction to provide ample space for large performing groups to deliver exceptional performances. Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall, on the other hand, was converted from a library. Currently, the first floor houses a multifunctional exhibition area of approximately 100 ping that can host exhibitions, conferences, and various community activities. It averages two to three exhibitions per month and is an important cultural venue in Miaoli. After the renovations, Zhongshan Hall and Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall have become performance venues for various forms of artistic culture, enriching the spiritual life of Miaoli residents and successfully integrating culture into people’s lives.
