Gongwei Tunnel Introduction

The "Gongweixu Tunnel," built in 1903 during the Meiji period, is located beside Maoli Mountain Park. The tunnel is 460 meters long, and its northern entrance features the characters "Gongweixu," inscribed by Taiwan Governor-General Gentarō Kodama at that time. In 1998, the tunnel was decommissioned due to the dual-track operation of the mountain railway. To preserve this valuable railway cultural asset, the county government renovated the tunnel and later installed colorful LED lighting. Walking through the tunnel not only provides a cool atmosphere but also offers a stunning and vibrant light show that leaves visitors in awe!
