Old Gun Cabinet Trail Introduction

The Old Gun Rack Trail is located in Beipu Village, Sanwan Township, and it is approximately 1.5 kilometers long with a gentle slope. Much of the path is shaded by trees, making it a cool and comfortable trail. The character "銃" (gun) is pronounced the same way in Taiwanese, referring to an old weapon similar to a gun. The name Old Gun Rack indicates that this area was once an ammunition depot for storing firearms, used by early Han settlers to arm themselves and defend their homes. The trail primarily follows the ridge line of the mountains and later became a route for transporting local agricultural products. As modern highways were gradually completed, this ancient trail's purpose diminished and it fell into disuse. It has since been renovated and restored with natural ecological techniques, maintaining the original dirt surface. Along the way, there are camphor trees, acacia trees, and bamboo groves, and during the tung flower season, the petals fall like romantic snowflakes, making it a beautifully scenic natural trail.
