Luocuo Catholic Church Introduction

Luo Tso Catholic Church was built after purchasing the land in 1877 and completing construction in 1882. It has undergone three renovations and serves as the headquarters for Catholicism in central Taiwan and the residence for priests. The first fourteen priests were of Spanish nationality, and it was only after Taiwan's restoration that the position was taken over by priests from the United States.

In 1930, Father Joseph Chen introduced the first Western music ensemble, which became the accompaniment band for weddings and funerals. In 1950, Father Hu De-ke founded the first missionary school in central Taiwan. The church has many historical artifacts, including a partially damaged bell made of silver and bronze alloy known as the "Heavenly God Bell," and a stone tablet granted by Emperor Guangxu, both serving as historical evidence.
