Xihu Township Office Introduction

The Xihu Township Office was established on June 1, 1943, during the Showa Era 18, serving as the highest administrative body in Xihu at that time. After the retrocession, the original Xihu Township was restructured into Xihu Town, and the township office was then converted into the Xihu Town Office. Originally, there were dormitories and a duty police office behind the town office; the dormitory was demolished in 1967, and an office was built on the southwest side. In the 1980s, the police office was demolished, and an office was constructed on the southeast side. In 1982, there were initial plans to demolish the original township office building, but they were later suspended. Since 1986, it has been used as the town office and was registered as a historical building on April 10, 2002. The original Xihu Township Office is a two-story reinforced concrete building with brickwork, featuring a four-slope roof covered with cement tiles. The façade of the township office has a gable roof with three arched clay decorations below the gable, flanked by windows, with a central entrance leading to a balcony. The exterior of the Xihu Township Office presents a geometric shape and showcases an Art Deco architectural style. To the right of the office, there is a staircase leading to the second floor, which was originally used as a hall; it is currently the office of the Xihu Village Clerk.
