Xiluhu District Office Introduction

The Xihu Township Office was built on June 1, 1943, during the Showa period and served as the highest administrative body of Xihu at that time. After the end of World War II, the original Xihu Village was restructured into Xihu Town, and the village office was transformed into the Xihu Town Office. Behind the town office, there were originally dormitories and a guard post. In 1967, the dormitory was demolished, and an office was constructed on the southwest side. In the 1980s, the guard post was torn down and an office was built on the southeast side. In 1982, there were plans to demolish the original village office building, but they were later abandoned. Since 1986, it has been used as the office of the town office and was registered as a historic building on April 10, 2002. The original Xihu Township Office is a two-story building made of reinforced concrete brick, with a four-slope roof covered with concrete tiles. The facade of the street office features a gabled parapet, with three arched clay relief decorations below the gable, flanked by windows, and a central entrance leading to a balcony. The exterior of the Xihu Township Office is characterized by geometric shapes, showcasing an Art Deco architectural style. On the right side of the office, a staircase leads to the second floor, which was originally used as a hall but currently serves as the office for the secretary of Xihu.
