Xihu Sugar Factory Introduction
Xiluo Sugar Factory exudes sweetness and nostalgia, combining culture, leisure, and cuisine. It not only retains the complete structure of the former sugar factory, with its massive chimney and sugar evaporation tanks, emanating a "steampunk" atmosphere, but also features an old steam locomotive. The antique train still runs on its old tracks, now dressed up and carrying passengers. The beautifully preserved old buildings have been transformed into shops selling traditional "zhizai" ice, trendy desserts, and ice cream. The large park area includes Linjing Forest, lush green grass, and amenities such as a large barbecue area and ecological ponds, making it a popular tourist destination in Changhua. Taiwan was once the largest exporter of sugar in Asia, and Xiluo Sugar Factory was the most productive sugar factory in Taiwan. After its glorious history and closure, this vast sugar factory allows visitors to experience a century of sugar industry's splendor. Relevant government agencies have also sought to have it listed as a "World Industrial Heritage," showcasing its immense scale and hidden charm.
