Xihu Sugar Factory Introduction
Xiluo Sugar Factory exudes a sweet and nostalgic atmosphere, combining culture, leisure, and cuisine. It not only preserves the complete structure of the old sugar mill, with its massive chimney and boiling sugar evaporators, giving off a "steam punk" vibe, but also features an ancient steam locomotive. The old railway still sees the passenger train, now beautifully painted, running through the area. The charming old buildings have been transformed into specialty shops selling traditional shaved ice, trendy desserts, and ice cream. The expansive area also includes Linjing Forest, lush green grass, and facilities like large barbecue areas and ecological ponds, making it a popular tourist attraction in Changhua. Taiwan was once the largest sugar exporter in Asia, and Xiluo Sugar Factory was the highest sugar-producing factory in the country. After a glorious history, the massive sugar mill now allows visitors to experience a century of sugary splendor. Relevant government units have also sought to include it in the "World Industrial Heritage" list, showcasing its grand scale and inherent charm.
