Xilhu Sugar Factory Introduction
Xiluo Sugar Factory exudes a sweet and nostalgic atmosphere, combining culture, leisure, and gastronomy. It not only preserves the old sugar factory intact, with its massive smokestack and sugar evaporation tanks, which give off a "steampunk" vibe, but also features an ancient steam locomotive. The old tracks are still traversed by heritage trains adorned in colorful designs, bringing back life to the site. The vintage buildings have been transformed into shops selling traditional ice desserts, trendy pastries, and ice cream. The expansive area also includes a forested zone, lush green grass, and facilities like a large barbecue area and ecological ponds, making it a diverse and popular tourist spot in Changhua. Taiwan was once the largest sugar exporter in Asia, and Xiluo Sugar Factory was the highest sugar production facility in the country at one time. After its glorious history and subsequent closure, the grand sugar factory continues to lead visitors in experiencing the splendor of a century of the sugar industry. Relevant government units have even sought recognition as a "World Industrial Heritage," highlighting its vast scale and hidden charm.
