Longding Ancient Trail Introduction
Originally known as the "Salt Trail," this ancient trade route connected the coastal settlements of Changhua with the mountainous areas of Nantou. It is also referred to as the "Dai Ren Keng Ancient Trail," named after the area of Dai Ren Keng in Yuanlin's Baiguo Mountain. The trail is constructed from local stone materials and features a gentle terrain that is easy to walk on, making it suitable for leisurely afternoon strolls. On both sides of the trail, there are orchards filled with starfruit, lychee, longan, and other fruit trees. Visitors during the summer can see the branches laden with fruits, creating a rich and diverse landscape in combination with camphor trees, acacia, and fragrant nutmeg trees. Additionally, flowers such as balsam, orchids, and calla lilies bloom seasonally along the path.
