Jinshuiying National Trail Introduction

The Jinhuisu Ancient Trail is located in the broadleaf forest of southern Taiwan at a low to medium elevation, with a total length of about 13.2 kilometers. It is the lowest ancient trail crossing the Central Mountain Range. The western section mostly follows the Dahan Forest Road, accessible by car up to section 23.5 of the forest road, while the eastern section is officially planned as the Jinhuisu National Trail. This historical trail has served as a trade route for indigenous peoples for hundreds of years and has also been used by Japanese, foreign missionaries, and Qing Dynasty soldiers, featuring numerous cultural heritage sites such as the Chushui Slope Site and the Jinhuisu Garrison. From the high points, one can enjoy views of the North and South Dawu Mountains. To visit the Jinhuisu National Trail, one must first apply for a mountain entry permit, which can be done online or in person at the Guichong Police Station. Upon entering the Jinhuisu Trail, a lush green landscape greets you, with fresh air surrounding you, creating a serene escape into nature where one can explore rare plants and historical sites, experiencing a sense of cultural heritage. Every winter, thousands of purple butterflies gather at the eastern end of the trail to spend the winter. The humid climate and ecological environment have made it an important habitat for wildlife, leading to the establishment of significant wildlife habitats such as the Jinhuisu Wildlife Habitat, Dawu Business District Taiwan Hemlock Nature Reserve, and the Dawu Taiwan Cypress Nature Reserve. In spring, flowers bloom vibrantly, sunlight filters through the leaves, with colorful blossoms adorning the path alongside lush greenery. Accompanied by floral scents, both visual and olfactory senses are healed, allowing one to absorb the freshness and escape the urban hustle. Walking along this healing trail with a few friends can release stress in the greenery, restoring body, mind, and spirit, while making your steps light and joyful. It is highly recommended for everyone to take a walk along the trail and enjoy the beauty of nature! It is suggested to choose a one-way trip; if you opt for a round trip in one day, the total length will be about 40 kilometers, which can be a bit more demanding.
