Jinlong Lake Introduction
Jinlong Lake is located in a valley between Shuangfeng Mountain, with a slightly gourd-shaped surface, resembling a piece of raw jade quietly resting in the mountains. Formerly known as "Dapi Lake," it covers an area of 6 hectares and boasts a vast expanse of pristine forest. The lakeside is densely wooded, providing ample shade from the green trees; the area mainly consists of swamp, secondary forest, and open grassland formed from abandoned fields. In the nearby agricultural land and wetlands, water buffalo and egrets can often be seen leisurely wandering about, creating a simple and peaceful scenery. In recent years, the Dawu Township Office has constructed a lakeside road around the lake, lined with silk trees. The approximately 2-kilometer walking trail around the lake allows for leisurely strolls or cycling. Surveys of the animals in Jinlong Lake have identified woodpeckers, squirrels, butterflies, and small rain frogs, while various plants include dragon fruit trees, ginger trees, Taitung fire thorn trees, and Taitung cycads. Along the lakeside path, there are resting pavilions where visitors can admire the scenic reflections on the water, watch squirrels chase each other, or observe various birds happily foraging. The area also offers outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, fishing, sightseeing, walking, barbecuing, and camping, making it a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of life for a peaceful half-day retreat.
