Xiji Island Introduction

Xijiyu, also known as Xiji Island, is an island in the Penghu archipelago of Taiwan and serves as an important point on the Ta-Peng Channel. The administrative area was formerly part of Xiji Village in Wang-an Township, Penghu County (which has been abolished). It is now part of the proposed South Four Islands National Marine Park in Penghu (which includes Dongjiyu, Xijiyu, Dongyupingyu, and Xiyupingyu). It is located approximately 4.5 kilometers away from Dongjiyu. Due to its remote location and inconvenient transportation, the residents have difficulty making a living, leading to a sharp population decline, prompting the government to assist in relocating the village on July 1, 1978.
