Xiji Island Introduction

Xijiyu, also known as Xiji Island, is an island in the Penghu archipelago of Taiwan. It is an important point along the Taitung-Penghu shipping route and was once part of the Xiji Village in Wang'an Township, Penghu County (now a discontinued village). It is currently part of the proposed South Penghu Marine National Park (which includes Dongjiyu, Xijiyu, Dongyupingyu, and Xiyupingyu). Xijiyu is located about 4.5 kilometers from Dongjiyu. Due to its remote location and inconvenient transportation, residents face difficulties in making a living, leading to a sharp population decline, and the government assisted in the relocation of the village on July 1, 1978.
