Xiji Island Introduction

Xiji Islet, also known as Xiji Island, is an island in the Penghu archipelago of Taiwan and an important point in the Taiwan-Penghu shipping route. It was once part of Xiji Village in Wang-an Township, Penghu County (now abolished). It is currently part of the planned Southern Four Islands Marine National Park of Penghu (which includes Dongji Islet, Xiji Islet, Dongyuping Islet, and Xiyuping Islet). It is located approximately 4.5 kilometers from Dongji Islet. Due to its remote location and inconvenient transportation, residents face difficulties in making a living, resulting in a sharp decline in population, leading to government-assisted relocation on July 1, 1978.
