Xiji Island Introduction

Xiji Islet, also known as Xiji Island, is an island in the Penghu archipelago of Taiwan. It serves as an important waypoint on the Tainan-Penghu shipping route. The administrative area was formerly part of Xiji Village in Wang'an Township, Penghu County (which has since been abolished). Currently, it is part of the planned Southern Four Islands Marine National Park (which includes Dongji Islet, Xiji Islet, Dongyuping Islet, and Xiyuping Islet). Xiji Islet is located approximately 4.5 kilometers away from Dongji Islet. Due to its remote location and inconvenient transportation, residents have struggled to make a living, leading to a sharp decline in population, prompting government-assisted migration on July 1, 1978.
